Choosing The Best Moisturizer For Your Skin

Who is to say that one moisturizer will work on anyone? There are many products on the market that are not going to have the same effect on one person’s skin as another, or even on different parts of the body. This is because no one person’s skin is the same as someone else. We all have individual feel, texture, color, and even ability to absorb moisturizer effectively.

If your skin is oily then you would need a different type of moisturizer than if you have dry skin. So essentially, just like all skin is different, so are all moisturizers.

There are basically three different types of moisturizers available. They are mineral oil based, which is a product that has actually been shown to cause clogged pores and skin problems because it can block the pores. Because of this, many dermatologists recommend staying away from these types. Then there are water based products, and natural oil products.

Natural oil products sometimes use coconut oil as the base for their moisturizers, but seems to bee to heavy for facial use and is more recommended for use on other body parts.

A good rule of thumb would be to read the ingredients list and keep in mind that the longer the list of chemicals included in the ingredients, the better chance you have of it irritating your skin instead of moisturizing it.

One more thing to remember is that skin changes as you get older. Because of these changes a product you used in your twenties may not be as effective in your fifties. So it’s best to change your product every few years or when you notice it’s not working as good as it used to. This way you can keep your skin looking young, fresh, and moisturized. And don’t let the price tag fool you.

There really isn’t any proof out there that a five dollar moisturizer you get at a retail store would be any better than, or do more for your skin than, say the hundred dollar one that is available to exclusive stores. It all has to do with the type of skin you have and that you choose the best one for you.
